Savoy Harbors Kitchen

BEFOREAFTER

INTRO

This kitchen renovation was all about maximizing the potential of the space—enhancing storage, improving functionality, and updating the overall aesthetic to reflect a modern yet timeless design. Our clients came to us with a clear vision: they wanted a more open, cohesive layout, improved organization, and a space that felt practical, all while reflecting their personal style.

Through a series of thoughtful design choices, including simplifying the complex, angled pantry, extending cabinetry for additional storage, and incorporating two-tone cabinetry with carefully selected quartz countertops, we completely transformed this kitchen. What resulted was not only a stunning space, but one that works seamlessly for everyday life. The combination of functionality and beauty makes this kitchen the heart of the home. Let’s dive deeper into the exciting details of this renovation.

BEFORE

The original kitchen had good bones, but the layout presented some challenges. Several key issues hindered both flow and functionality. A pantry with sharp angles consumed valuable floor space, creating wasted corners and limiting accessible storage. The centrally located ceiling-mounted vent hood contributed to a cluttered visual feel, dominating the center of the room rather than blending into the design. Additionally, a small window on one wall restricted the amount of cabinetry that could be installed, leading to a lack of storage space overall. The kitchen felt cramped and disjointed, and our clients wanted a space that not only functioned better, but also felt cohesive and polished.

By identifying the pain points and considering the needs of our clients, we crafted a comprehensive plan that reimagined the space—maximizing storage, creating a more open layout, and making the kitchen both visually stunning and easy to navigate.

DURING

Our design process involved several key changes to transform the kitchen into a space that was both visually pleasing and highly functional. Here are the significant updates we made:

Pantry Redesign: One of the biggest challenges was the angled pantry that disrupted the flow of the kitchen. The pantry was cumbersome and not very efficient. By simplifying the design, we designed custom cabinetry that was parallel with the rest of the kitchen, and we were able to gain that space back. We not only made the pantry more accessible, but also increased its storage capacity. This adjustment made the kitchen feel more spacious, improving both the visual flow and overall functionality.

Closing Off a Window for Extended Storage: A small window in the original layout limited the space available for cabinetry and counter surfaces. While we always value natural light, this window was an obstacle to a more open and practical design. By closing it off and extending the cabinetry along that wall, we were able to maximize the storage and workspace without compromising the kitchen’s light-filled ambiance. This subtle change allowed for a more seamless layout, ensuring that every inch of space served a purpose.

Relocation of the Range: The position of the range in the center of the room, coupled with the bulky ceiling-mounted vent hood, created a major visual and functional obstruction. It broke up the flow of the kitchen and made the space feel more closed off. Moving the range to an exterior wall was a game-changer. Not only did it improve the cooking workflow, but it also allowed us to install a sleek, modern vent hood that improved both ventilation and the kitchen’s visual appeal. This adjustment freed up the center of the room, creating a more open, welcoming space while maintaining the functionality needed for everyday cooking.

Two-Tone Cabinetry and Quartz Countertops: One of the standout features of this renovation was the two-tone cabinetry design. We used Sherwin-Williams Grays Harbor on the island and pantry, paired with Sherwin-Williams Crushed Ice on the remaining cabinets. This combination created a striking contrast that was both elegant and balanced. The cabinetry choices added depth and sophistication, setting the tone for the entire space.

To complement the cabinetry, we selected two types of quartz countertops. For the island and pantry section, we used Silestone Lyra, which provided a clean, light surface with subtle veining. For the perimeter countertops, we chose Vicostone Blue Savoy, which added a touch of rich, luxurious color and texture. The combination of the two quartz varieties not only enhanced the visual appeal of the kitchen but also brought in dimension and interest while maintaining an overall cohesive design.

Coffee Bar & Finishing Touches: The dedicated coffee bar was a small but impactful addition. This space provided both a functional and aesthetic upgrade, allowing the homeowners to enjoy their morning routines in a designated area of the kitchen. The addition of custom shelving, a countertop, and the integration of design elements from the rest of the kitchen made this area both practical and stylish.

The backsplash was another area where we paid careful attention to detail. Our clients selected a marble-inspired tile for the backsplash with Ash grout and Greige trim, adding texture and visual interest without overwhelming the space. The Undermount Single Bowl Granite Sink was another essential feature, offering a sleek, modern look that enhanced the overall design while offering excellent durability for daily use.

Optimizing Layout and Flow: Throughout the renovation, we focused on creating a kitchen that felt more spacious and cohesive. The changes we made to the layout—including moving the range, extending cabinetry, and simplifying the pantry—ensured that every element of the kitchen contributed to both its form and function. The result is a space that feels more open, organized, and intuitive to navigate.

AFTER

The finished kitchen is a beautiful blend of elegance, style, and practicality. The two-tone cabinetry provides a bold contrast that adds depth and sophistication, while the mix of quartz countertops brings a luxurious touch to the space. The extended cabinetry layout maximizes storage, ensuring that everything has its place, and the more open layout makes the kitchen feel much larger and more inviting.

Relocating the range and installing a sleek, modern vent hood improved both the cooking workflow and the overall visual appeal, eliminating the visual clutter of the previous design. The coffee bar adds an element of luxury and function, providing the homeowners with a space for their daily routines.

Incorporating high-end finishes, such as the marble backsplash and custom sink, not only refined the design but also ensured that every detail worked together to enhance the space. The end result is a kitchen that functions effortlessly for the homeowners’ lifestyle, offering both beauty and practicality in equal measure.

This renovation was a true transformation, making the kitchen a space that is both visually stunning and highly functional—perfect for family gatherings, cooking, and enjoying daily life. Every detail was carefully considered to reflect the needs and style of the homeowners, resulting in a kitchen that feels fresh, modern, and timeless all at once.
