This North Denton home was built in the early 1990s. The kitchen and living room areas were already open-concept and had a great layout, but our clients were ready to update the surfaces and lighting to reflect a more modern style.
Our clients wanted to update the style and color of the cabinetry, but there was no need to replace the cabinets fully as they were in good shape. A prominent fluorescent light fixture extended down off the ceiling, drawing the eye to it and dating the space. The formica countertops and white and blue backsplash no longer fit with our clients’ decor and they were ready to upgrade to higher-quality materials.

We cut the bi-level peninsula down to counter height to make the counter space more usable. The fluorescent lighting was replaced with recessed can lighting, and we modified the current cabinetry to include a pull-out for a trash can and enclose some open shelving. New doors and drawers were custom-made for the cabinets, updating the entire look of the kitchen while salvaging the original cabinet boxes. We painted the cabinets, installed new quartz countertops and a cement tile backsplash. New cabinet hardware and light fixtures rounded out the update.
