BEFORE

This home, like many others, was a patchwork of outdated features and worn materials. The exterior had damaged siding and faded paint telling a story of years gone by. On the interior, our clients wanted to improve aesthetic cohesion and add some modern amenities. They envisioned a complete transformation, one that would breathe new life into their beloved home, infusing it with contemporary style, comfort, and functionality.

They dreamed of a home where every detail was thoughtfully designed, from a welcoming front porch to elegant interiors that flowed seamlessly from one room to the next. The goal was not just to update the house but to create a sanctuary that reflected their personal taste and lifestyle.

Choosing the right team for the job isn’t easy. Our clients stated the factors that were involved in their decision to pick Irwin Construction:

“We knew Kelley’s parents from church and knew the Irwins would be helpful. Upon meeting them though, we were sold by their endearing personalities, the vast array of ideas they provided, and their overall competency level from seeing their prior work sold us.”

DURING

The renovation process was meticulous and involved various stages of demolition, framing, and installation. We paid close attention to detail, ensuring that each aspect of the renovation met the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Throughout the project, we coordinated with our clients, providing regular updates and making adjustments as needed to align with their vision and expectations. Here is a breakdown of how it went throughout the home:

INTERIOR RENOVATION

Lighting and Flooring: Throughout the house, we updated the lighting with energy-efficient LED recessed can lights and fixtures. The old flooring was replaced with luxurious LVP flooring, while new carpet and padding were installed in the downstairs bedroom, master bedroom, staircase, and upstairs bedroom.

Baseboards and Paint: New baseboards were installed throughout the house, and all walls received drywall and texture repair. A fresh coat of paint transformed the interiors, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

KITCHEN RENOVATION

Demolition and Reconstruction: The heart of the home, the kitchen, underwent a complete makeover. We demolished the existing kitchen, clearing the way for a fresh start. Custom Shaker-style cabinetry, extending to the ceiling, was installed, including an island and pantry cabinet. These cabinets provide ample storage and a clean, modern look.

Countertops and Sink: The countertops were upgraded to polished 3cm MSI Lumataj quartz, known for its durability and sleek appearance. This included a quartz window sill, adding a touch of elegance and cohesion to the kitchen design. The installation of a large farmhouse sink added both functionality and a rustic charm to the space.

Structural Improvements: One of the significant structural changes was the installation of a beam between the kitchen and living room. This beam, wrapped in distressed pine, not only provided essential support but also added a rustic aesthetic that complements the farmhouse style. Additionally, faux beams were installed in the kitchen, running perpendicular to the structural beam, enhancing the overall design.

Finishing Touches: New cabinet hardware, light fixtures, and appliances were installed, completing the kitchen transformation. Each element was carefully chosen to blend functionality with style, resulting in a kitchen that is both practical and visually appealing.

FAMILY ROOM RENOVATION

Fireplace Overhaul: The family room’s fireplace received a major facelift. We removed the old brick and mantel, replacing them with a distressed pine mantel to match the beams in the kitchen. The installation of veneer stone, extending to the ceiling, transformed the fireplace into a stunning focal point. We also updated the living room built-ins with stained shelves to coordinate with the new beams, and new doors to match the kitchen cabinetry.

MASTER BEDROOM AND BATHROOM RENOVATION

Bedroom Enhancements: In the master bedroom, we replaced the wall tile behind the wood stove with the same veneer stone used in the family room fireplace, extending it to the ceiling. The floor tile under the wood stove was removed and replaced with a 3cm quartz slab, creating a seamless look. The wood-burning stove was reinstalled facing the bed, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.

Bathroom Transformation: The master bathroom was completely reimagined. The existing bathtub, shower, vanities, and fixtures were removed, making way for a luxurious retreat. Two custom White Oak single vanities with legs, giving a furniture-like appearance, were installed, along with MSI Lumataj polished 3cm quartz counters and backsplashes. The shower was expanded and updated with new tile and glass.

Elegant Details: We installed board and batten trim carpentry behind the freestanding bathtub. The trim work added a classic touch, while the freestanding bathtub, with a wall-mount filler, became a centerpiece of relaxation. The master bathroom mirrors and light fixtures were carefully selected to complement the overall design, adding both functionality and style.

MIDDLE AND UPSTAIRS BATHROOM RENOVATION

Middle Bathroom Renovation: The middle bathroom was gutted and rebuilt with custom White Oak double vanity with legs, MSI Lumataj quartz countertops, and a custom shower pan with a low curb. The doorway from the vanity area into the shower area was widened and the shower redesigned.

Upstairs Bathroom Transformation: The upstairs bathroom followed a similar transformation, with a custom White Oak single vanity, MSI Lumataj quartz countertops, and revamped shower.

POWDER BATH AND ADDITIONAL SPACE RENOVATION

Powder Bath Upgrade: In the powder bath, we installed board and batten trim carpentry and a stunning wallpaper mural.

Additional Spaces: Throughout the house, additional spaces such as the laundry room, hallways, stairway, and bedrooms were also renovated. Each area received new paint, updated flooring, and other finishing touches to ensure the design of the whole house flowed well.

AFTER

The transformation is nothing short of spectacular. The exterior now boasts a cohesive, polished look with freshly painted siding and beautifully stained porches. The interior spaces are a testament to modern elegance, with updated lighting, luxurious flooring, and custom cabinetry. Each room has been thoughtfully designed to maximize functionality and aesthetic appeal. And the biggest change of all according to our client:

“Our entire home was made over from top to bottom, inside and outside. A very dated 1998 home was transformed into something new and fresh, but still in line with the style and bones of the original structure.”

This renovation project showcases the incredible potential of a well-executed home makeover. It’s not just about updating a space – it’s about enhancing your lifestyle and creating a home that reflects your unique style. We are immensely proud of the journey we undertook with our amazing clients and the remarkable transformation we achieved together.

Our clients LOVED the end result of their beautiful home and had this to say:

We appreciated all the sub contractors who came through our home. It’s one thing to know and like the owners, but they obviously work very hard vetting the people to contract out the work. All the men were respectful, kind, and showed courtesy to us as our family lived in the home during the remodeling process. Irwin also gave us concrete timelines of when work would be done, so there were no surprises with them. Unfortunately, we encountered some setbacks with encountering extensive termite and foundation damage, but Irwin rolled with the punches and got us back in the home in a timely manner despite the unwanted discoveries”

Thank you for following along on this journey of creation and style. We look forward to bringing more inspired transformations to life in future projects!
