Izzie’s House was a full home renovation in a neighborhood near Denton, TX. The house was built in 2001 and much of the original materials were still in place. Our client was eager to update the house to a more current style.
In the kitchen, one of the main goals was to increase storage space by removing the pantry and fur downs and extending the cabinetry all the way to the ceiling. Adding a new wine bar for entertaining was another top priority. In the bathrooms we planned to update all surfaces while leaving the layout the same. The durability of the flooring was a concern throughout the house, which led to the selection of luxury vinyl plank flooring.
The name “Izzie’s House” is in honor of the tiniest member of the household, who endeared herself to all of us during the renovation process!

Our client had the original oak cabinets in the kitchen and laundry room painted previously, but it didn’t turn out exactly as she’d hoped. While she liked how the white cabinets lightened the space, the paint wasn’t smooth. This led to a full home renovation that we were happy to step in to help with!
The kitchen was already open to the living room, but the bi-level island made the peninsula area counter space less usable. While the pantry provided storage, our client wanted to use some of the wall space for a built-in microwave and convection steam oven.

We designed custom paint-grade full-height cabinetry for the kitchen, built to accommodate new Sub-Zero Wolf counter-depth appliances. This included a pantry cabinet that matched the storage space of the pantry we removed, while still allowing space for the microwave and convection oven.
The color palette for Izzie’s House was warm grays and whites with brushed nickel hardware throughout. We chose white quartz counter tops to pair with cabinetry painted in Mindful Gray (Sherwin Williams) and classic white subway tile. A dark anthracite sink provided striking contrast with the light counters, and warm wood tones were pulled into the space through the LVP flooring and wood accents in the bar area.
The design plan required a full demo of the kitchen. We cut down the bi-level counter on the peninsula and removed the enclosed pantry. In order to accommodate the new wine bar, we pushed the dining area wall into the garage. We installed a pocket door between the kitchen and laundry room to save space.

Both bathrooms had efficient layouts and cabinetry that was in good shape. Our main goal was to update the bathrooms to coordinate with the improvements in the rest of the house. We installed LVP flooring, refaced the existing cabinetry, replaced the counters with quartz, and retiled the showers.
In the master bathroom we installed a pocket door between the bedroom and bathroom to save space, and a barn door to the entrance of the closet.
