Over the years and through all kinds of projects, we’ve collected some favorite details that just seem to finish the job well. We pride ourselves in regularly paying attention to details in all projects. They are just as important to the overall finish of a space as the big items, and we believe they are often the little touches that enhance functionality for the client. Some of these details were our idea, some were requested by our clients, but all made a difference in their respective spaces. Here are our favorite details – bathroom edition!
1. Geometric Tile
Why we like it
Geometric tile is FUN. It’s a spin on classic tile that adds more life to a space. No matter your style, you can find a geometric tile that works with your room.

2. Multiple Shower Heads
Why we like it
All reasons for multiple shower heads point to luxury. A spa feel in your own bathroom. With more than one shower head, water flow is improved and the spray area is larger, making this option helpful for larger showers. It also offers a customizable shower experience for different members of the family. A pull-down shower nozzle is helpful for rinsing shampoo on little ones, whereas a rain head may not have enough power on its own for the task.

3. Space-Saving Doors (Barn Doors and Pocket Doors)
Why we like it
We’re often presented with the challenge of creating more space in a bathroom without changing its footprint. One excellent solution is a space-saving door. Depending on the wall areas around the door opening, barn doors and pocket doors can be good options when a room needs to have the capacity for privacy (ahem, toilet room) but a typical swinging door gets in the way.

4. Built-In Cubbies & Storage
Why we like it
No one has ever said, “I have way more storage in my bathroom than I need!” Well maybe someone has, but we’ve never heard it. Extra storage for toilet paper, towels and linens is always appreciated in a bathroom, and we love to add little “bonus” storage areas. Open shelving above toilets, recessed wall cubbies for towels, and countertop cabinet units are all useful storage solutions!

5. Sliding Glass Shower Doors
Why we like it
Sliding glass shower doors are the equivalent of barn doors for the shower. They are space-savers since they don’t swing out, and the sleek, frameless look is a statement all on its own!

6. Vertical Shampoo Niche
Why we like it
Inset shampoo niches are standard in all of our shower remodels, but our client at Coach’s Quarters decided to shake things up a bit with a vertical shampoo niche. They had a very narrow shower, so flipping our usual horizontal shampoo niche on its end and adding shelves was the perfect storage solution for shower necessities in a tight space!

7. Freestanding Tubs
Why we like it
Freestanding tubs are timeless. With so many options to match any bathroom style imaginable (white, black, copper, clawfoot, pedestal, slipper, modern….), a freestanding tub can add classic style to any renovation!

8. Outlets in Drawers
Why we like it
Nothing interrupts the aesthetics of a beautiful bathroom counter more than all the things hanging out on top while plugged in. Hidden outlets for charging razors, using hair dryers, etc. keep the countertop neat and clean!
