The Texas Gate House is located outside town down a windy rural road. Set on over 2 acres and built in 2000, the Texas Gate House is the ideal country farmhouse complete with a large front porch and dormer windows. It earned its name from the cattle guard at the entrance of the long driveway. Cattle guards are humorously called "Texas Gates" in Canada where Kelley grew up, and the name stuck.

The Coach's Quarters farmhouse style renovation project took place at a home on a beautiful tree-filled lot in a rural neighborhood. Our clients had been in the house for years and had completed projects before, but were ready to overhaul the kitchen, living room and master bathroom to update the main floor to a more current style.

Modern Farmhouse Bathroom – Before & After

This project was especially exciting as it was our own master bathroom! While the room had great bones, the design was decades out of date (cultured marble and seashell sinks!). The tiled wall enclosing the tub/shower cut the room in half, making it feel small and cramped. The vaulted ceiling added great interest, but the design didn't utilize its potential as a feature in the room. We had ample counter space on the long vanity, but cabinet storage was lacking due to the outdated vanity cutout. While we appreciated the closet storage space, the old sliding door had been removed and the curtain separating the closet from the bathroom made the transition feel cluttered.

Double-Sided Fireplace – Before & After

This double-sided fireplace renovation was completed last fall – just in time for the holidays! We removed the existing tile from both sides of the fireplace and installed new tile. A dark 12×24 tile was used on the living room side for a sleek, solid-surface look. On the dining room side, we installed a 3×6 subway tile in a herringbone pattern to add interest and dimension. We also removed the existing woodwork from the living room side of the fireplace and installed shiplap and a custom mantle in its place.

The Honey House – Before & After

The Honey House was built in the late 1990's and is located in a prominent Denton neighborhood. The house had great bones and was in excellent condition, but our clients wanted a more open layout for hosting their growing family and friends and a more updated feel. The goal was to transform the home's traditional look (heavy with dark wood) to a lighter, airier farmhouse style. The family welcomed two new grandchildren in the past several months and Honey is our client's "grandma name", so "Honey's House" became The Honey House.

The Redemption House – Before & After

When we first saw the property we would come to call “The Redemption House,” it was uninhabitable. Built in 1916, it had been added onto more than once, yet the latest work seemed to have been in the 1970s. While it was in a coveted historical area in Denton, it had been vacant for quite a while and was badly overgrown and neglected.
