The Southern Glam House earned its nickname in the earliest stages of project design. Our clients’ goal was to combine “updated traditional” elegance with a hint of high-sheen sparkle to achieve a timeless design style.
Located in Corinth, Texas, the Southern Glam House was built in 1999 and had a Tuscan-inspired design. Our clients were ready to update the house to a more current style, while also reconfiguring a few areas to function more efficiently for their family.
Due to the large scope of this project, we’ve split it up into three posts. Part I encompasses the kitchen, living room, and dining room, Part II will cover the master bathroom, and Part III will include the two children’s bathrooms.

The previous kitchen layout had several “dead spaces” that our clients didn’t find useful. The corner desk, empty space above the cabinets, tiny island, and bilevel peninsula were features they wanted to remove. They desired more upper cabinets for storage and a pantry cabinet that tied into the rest of the cabinetry. Additional bar seating was another top priority, as we would be opening up the space into the living room.

We used a similar color palette throughout the Southern Glam House in order to bring unity to the entire home. Soft whites and warm grays were the major tones in play. We brought in extra warmth in the kitchen with a stunning stained vent hood, while keeping the space light and airy with white quartz counters. The herringbone marble backsplash was the star of the kitchen, and it provided such a neat texture in the space. Our “glam” component came in the form of chrome fixtures, cabinet hardware, and furniture trim.
We opted for all new ceiling-height custom cabinets with a giant island. Two-sided bar seating provided enough space for the whole family to gather. We closed in the two windows by the former desk area, providing space for more upper cabinets as well as a wine bar. The separate pantry was replaced with a custom pantry cabinet with pull-out shelves that maximized storage and organization potential.

LIVING ROOM + DINING ROOM

In comparison to the kitchen, all the living and dining rooms needed was a little spruce up. The rooms seemed dim as a result of poor lighting and dark paint. We added some can lights, a new fixture over the dining table, updated the paint throughout, and overhauled the furniture (did you know we also provide decorating services?).
The stairway needed an update as well. We coordinated the design with the rest of the house by replacing the carpet, installing a new banister and rail, and incorporating minimalist metal spindles.
