Welcome to Part II of the Southern Glam House before & after! If you haven’t seen Part I (kitchen, living room, and dining room) you can find it here. In Part I we shared our vision for the whole house. The basis for the master bathroom stayed true to this vision with a soft white and warm gray color palette, brushed nickel finishes, and splashes of “glam”.

The master bath already had an efficient layout and lots of natural light, but our clients were ready to update the surfaces to a more modern aesthetic. While keeping the previous floor plan, we removed the bi-level vanity, old garden tub, shower, and floor tile. We also extended the shower width to match the width of the new bathtub. An extra few inches of space can feel like a lot more in an enclosed space!

Our clients selected marble-look tile for the floor and walls of the bathroom for an elegant seamless look. We mixed two different marble finishes – Carrara hexagon tile in the shampoo niche and shower floor, and the same Calcutta Rocky quartz that we installed in the kitchen. To add depth, we used a rich dark gray paint on the vanity that contrasted with the light-catching brushed nickel fixtures. Modern vanity lights and beveled mirrors added a touch of glam!

Just want your feedback on the Tauleto Polished Porcelain Tile if this is slippery when used in the bathroom. Thanks!
Hi, Jane! Thanks! Polished tile will usually be more prone to slippage than matter or texture tile. In addition, larger tiles provide fewer grout lines and this contributes to a more slippery surface as well. Bath mats with proper grip can help reduce slipping in the bathroom!
We also used the Tauleto Bianco tile in our master bath remodel. We chose to use the polished on the walls and the matte finish on the floor. in the shower floor we used a penny tile that was a combo of both. The shower is totally slip free! I do not trust the floors totally, we have a “memory foam” mat at the entry that is very absorbent and our feet are mostly dry before touching the matte finished tile. We haven’t had any problems. I would NOT recommend the polished tile on any floor surface as it is slick!
We are also planning to use the same tiles in our m.bath remodeling. How is the matte finish tile on the bathroom floors holding up? Did you have to seal them?
